Reasons Uber & Lyft Drivers Make Great Real Estate Agents

Why do people drive for Uber? Well, there are flexible hours, the ability to be your own boss, and you can work from the comfort of your own car. Uber driving and real estate both are careers people can either use as a side hustle or as a full-time job. It just depends on the amount of time and effort you’d like to put in. Let’s break down the reasons why Uber drivers would make great real estate agents.

    Uber driving and real estate

Should I Get My Real Estate License If I Drive for Uber?

    1.) Self-motivating

If you are already driving for Uber, you are used to be self-motivated. Just like in real estate, no one tells you that you must work specific house during the work week. Having this kind of freedom isn’t always the best gig for people. Some people need structure to stay motivated, but some people don’t. If this sounds like you, becoming a real estate agent might not be your next move.

    2.) Outgoing

Being able to talk to a “brick wall” is not a trait that everyone has. It’s helpful when you are driving for Uber, and you are in close quarters with different clients every day. Being generally outgoing and social is going to help you with both businesses. Why? Because making connections with people is how you either improve or expand your business. As an Uber driver, you can earn more tips by making connections and as a real estate agent you can gain more clients.

    3.) Natural Lead Generation

Obtaining clients is one of the hardest parts of being a real estate agent. What better way to find clients then by simply meeting new people everyday as an Uber drive. I am not recommending that you push your business card at every client that gets into your car. But if you are in conversation and naturally your passenger brings up how they’ve been thinking about buying or selling their home, bingo, you can offer to help them.

    4.) Supplemental Income

Having a career in real estate is tricky because your income comes in waves. Sometimes you’ll earn a lot of commission in one month and then the next nothing. The best way to combat this is to make sure you are stacking up your savings so that your aways prepared to pay your bills. If this is something you struggle with then you might want to consider driving Uber so that you can supplement your income. On the flip side, if you find yourself hitting a ceiling on your earning potential with Uber or feel like you must be working long hours to earn what you need, real estate might also make a great supplemental income. Since they both can work hand in hand, try both, and see if you can crush your income goals this year.

    5.) Enjoys Driving

People who HATE driving probably won’t sign up to drive for Uber or Lyft. Same goes for becoming a real estate agent. Between appointments, listings, and showings, there is a lot of driving involved. You can potentially have 6 showings in one night or two showings that are 45 minutes apart. Either way, if you enjoy popping on a podcast and taking a long drive, both careers might fit the bill.
