How To Start A Real Estate Blog

Did you know that more than 80% of small businesses use blogging as an integral part of their marketing campaign? Real estate is no different. Whether you are a new agent or have spent years in the industry, staying top of mind in the competitive real estate industry requires a consistent amount of time dedicated to this goal. Coincidentally, “time” is at the top of most agent’s lists as something they wish they had more of. You want to stay top of mind to your sphere of influence without spending an arm and a leg. Blogging may be the missing link in your marketing arsenal. Let’s talk about a way to implement a real estate blog with minimal effort. If you don’t know where to begin, start with this simple acronym: BLOG.

B-Be the voice of your community. The great thing about blogging is you can write about what you like. If there is a certain area you live in, write about current events in your neighborhood. Whether it’s a big community fundraiser or a small garage sale, sharing this information in your blog takes your expertise to a hyperlocal level and shows that you care about what is going on in your community. Did a new coffee shop, pub or small business just open in your area? Share it with everyone you know. Farmer’s market next week? Spread the word and encourage your community to shop local. Not only is this the information people want to know about, but your bonus is that it has a snowball effect when you are sharing your blog with your audience. You then gain credibility as word spreads beyond your sphere, gaining more blog followers who will come to you as the “eyes and ears” of the community. Then they share with their friends, and so on and so on!

L-Listen to what’s happening, not only in the neighborhood, but in national real estate news, real estate forums, Facebook groups, etc. Everything from the latest in mortgage rates to another big celebrity home purchase in Beverly Hills. Grab a latte’ and scour the web for the latest real estate headlines and share your thoughts in your blog.

O-Offer your knowledge and services without being pushy. Now that you have the attention of your audience, throw in a link to recent market activity in the area. Ever have a nosy neighbor come thru one of your open houses? Trust me, people want to know this stuff! All jokes aside, people are interested in the value of their home now more than ever. You never know who may stumble upon your blog. It may just be your next listing appointment! Or include a link to contact you for a complimentary market analysis. All of these items will help you capture more leads.

G-Get leads by staying consistent with the steps above. If you are already using other marketing tools, your new blog can strengthen what you already have in place. As an added bonus, is a powerful tool to enhance SEO if you already have a website. Or maybe you’re not into the tech side of things and you just have a passion for real estate that love to write about. That is FANTASTIC!
