Perry Real Estate College Vs. Hondros College: Whose Real Estate Program Is Better?

    best real estate licensing school

Where should you go to get your real estate license? Which school is your best bet? Which school is going to prepare you for your new career? Well, I am here to help you determine which school is the best choice for you. What makes me an excellent resource for this topic? For starters, if you read the "about the author" below with my picture above it, you'll find out that I am a successful working real estate agent. My other expertise on this topic comes from my experience with both colleges.

I attended Hondros College back in 2020, when I earned my license in the state of Ohio. Then in 2021, I attended Perry Real Estate College to earn my real estate license in the state of Kentucky. Both schools allowed me to accomplish my goal of obtaining my license, but what else did I learn? What other resources were provided by these institutions that helped me on my journey of becoming the best real estate agent I could possibly be? What support was provided? What instructors assisted me in learning everything I needed to know to pass the state licensing exam? Read on to find out as I compare both schools based on price, accessibility, course content, level of support, and additional resources.

    Price

Everyone wants to get the best deal, that is a huge determining factor on what school you pick. Lucky for you, PREC prides themselves on always having competitive pricing. PREC runs sales constantly to make the course as accessible as possible for anyone wanting to get their real estate license.

    Accessibility

Perry Real Estate is completely online, which means you can complete your course at any time, anywhere. PREC decided to be completely online so that anyone could make time to complete this course. PREC created their course to mirror the real-life career of being a real estate agent. With our online course, you have all the resources to be successful, but only you can determine if you are going to use those resources to accomplish your goals. Just like in real estate itself, you are your own boss.

    Course Content

Perry Real Estate College hires teachers, lawyers, and practicing real estate agents to create their courses that not only give you exactly what you need to learn to pass the exam, but also delivers it in a way that makes sense. All of Perry Real Estate College’s real estate topics overlap so that you are getting a comprehensive look on how to be a successful real estate agent. I passed on my first try at the state exam.

    Level of Support

Perry Real Estate College wins this one. They have a support team hired to respond to emails, chats, and calls on weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and weekend nights. Why? Because they have multiple real estate agents on staff that have given them great feedback: students are working on their course during nights and weekends!

    Additional Resources

Perry Real Estate College provides every student with access to their support team, their instructor, and a career guide. The support team is there to cover any questions or technical support the student might need. The instructor, with over 10+ years of experience, is there to explain topics and any general course material. The career guide is there to help the student figure out what questions they should ask in their interview with a broker, to help decide if real estate is the right fit for them, or to assist the student on finding a PSI testing center near them. Either way, if you need help, PREC has you covered. They also have an incredible blog called the Career Corner that has over 160 articles written by real estate professionals to help you get started!

    Price

Hondros College also has similar pricing strategies, but what you don’t know is that they sell their courses with various upgrades so that you keep having to “add on” to your initial purchase to be fully prepared for the licensing exam. This is fine, but I do prefer the more straight forward, one and done, pricing model.

    Accessibility

When I took my course at Hondros College the courses were online as well as in-person. I tried both options when I was completing their course. I took part of it in-person, at their school, which was 45 minutes away from my house and during the day. I also took some portions of the class online, which I felt was missing some material that we covered in class. Since PREC is only online there are no gaps in coverage that you must worry about.

    Course Content

Course content is crucial. How can you pass an exam if you don’t have all the material needed? I felt that there were gaps in content if I didn’t make it to the in-person class. While, I learned a lot while taking this course, I found there are better ways to relay the material. Sometimes the topics jumped around from one to another which made me a little confused. I unfortunately, did not pass the state exam on my first try.

    Level of Support

Hondros level of support was just not there. When I tried to connect with a specialist outside of normal working business hours, they were not available. When I did finally connect with someone, they sounded like they didn’t know what they were talking about. I needed someone who understood the real estate industry to guide me, and I just wasn’t getting that.

    Additional Resources

I can’t say that Hondros College had a ton of additional resources to send me to when I was trying to figure out how I was going to begin my career. The only thing I did enjoy was the instructor that I had in person. He was kind enough to give me his personal email address. That way, I could correspond with him about questions on what real estate was really like as a career.

Overall, I would like to see Hondros College add more staff that have an extensive background in real estate if they really want to help people.

Which school should you pick? I'll let you decide.
