How to Obtain a Missouri Real Estate License via Reciprocity 

What does reciprocity mean? It means our real estate school can help you take a shortcut to a Missouri real estate license. If you already have an active real estate license in another state, our 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice course will cover the education needed for getting a license with Missouri reciprocity. The eligibility requirements to get your real estate license vary by state. For Missouri, you must be 18 years old and be able to provide proof of being fingerprinted through the approved statewide vendor. If you meet both requirements and have an active real estate license, you are eligible for a Missouri Reciprocal License!

Salesperson:

If you are a current and active real estate licensee in another jurisdiction, you must:

1. Complete the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course.

•  This can be taken 100% online and at your own pace through Perry Real Estate College. You will also need to pass the proctored final exam with a minimum score of 75%.

2. Submit the background check requirement.

• You must submit your fingerprints to the Missouri State Police or Identogo for a criminal background check. Please click here for more information.

3. Request your history/letter of good standing.

• This must be requested from your state real estate commission and sent directly to the Missouri Real Estate Commission.

4. Pass the State portion of the Missouri real estate licensing exam.

• This can be done before or after the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course.
• PSI Administers the in-person state licensing exam. You will only need to pass the 40-question state specific portion of the exam. You will need 75% to pass.

5. Submit your application

• Your application must be submitted within six months of the exam completion date.
• To apply for your Missouri real estate license, contact the Missouri Real Estate Commission and complete your application. They will list the documents you will need to provide. You will obtain errors and omissions insurance at this point in the process.

Broker:

If you hold a current and active Broker License in another jurisdiction, you must:

1. Have active license experience as a real estate Salesperson or Broker for 24 of the last 30 months.

2. Submit the background check requirement

• You must submit your fingerprints to the Missouri State Police or Identogo for a criminal background check. Please click here for more information.

3. Pass the State portion of the Missouri Broker exam

•  PSI Administers the in-person state licensing exam. You will only need to pass the 40-question state specific portion of the exam. You will need 75% to pass. After successfully passing the exam, you will have 6 months to apply for the license with the commission.

4. Request your history/letter of good standing

•  A current license (history) certification must be issued from your real estate commission and sent directly to the Missouri Real Estate Commission within three months.

5. Submit a complete license application within six months of your exam date.

•  To apply for your Missouri real estate license, contact the Missouri Real Estate Commission and complete your application. They will list the documents you will need to provide. You will obtain errors and omissions insurance at this point in the process
