Maryland Post-License Education Requirements

Maryland Post-License Education Requirements

To maintain an active license, the Maryland Real Estate Commission (MREC) requires all newly licensed salespersons to complete mandatory Maryland real estate post-license education during their initial two-year cycle. While categorized under state law as continuing education, this initial renewal operates strictly as a 15-hour post-licensing curriculum with 100% required topic categories and zero general electives. Completing your MREC-approved Maryland post-licensing courses online satisfies your first-renewal requirements and ensures prompt credit reporting to the state, protecting your license from inactive status and costly late renewal fees.

Maryland Real Estate Post-License Requirements

1.

All new Maryland real estate salespersons must complete 15 hours of approved coursework before submitting their first license renewal.

2.

Unlike subsequent standard renewals, your first renewal curriculum is strictly prescribed across mandatory subject categories, including Contracts (3 hrs), Brokerage Relationships & Disclosures (3 hrs), Real Estate Practice (3 hrs), Property Management & Landlord-Tenant Law (3 hrs), Professionalism (1.5 hrs), and Real Estate Financing (1.5 hrs).

3.

Coursework must be completed within your initial 24-month licensing period, ideally at least 30 days prior to expiration to allow for provider reporting to the Maryland Real Estate Commission (MREC).

This MREC-approved 15-hour post-licensing bundle covers 100% of Maryland’s required topic hours with zero electives needed, complete with 100% online self-paced access and automatic completion reporting directly to the Commission.

Day or night, seven days a week, every time you call, you'll be greeted by a real person - not a machine. The person you talk to will be an expert and able to help you right away.
